Cute little place, dark and there's around 6 or so tables. The sandwich I had #4 was AMAZING. So flavorful and had the perfect amount of pickled veggies to balance the chicken. The bread is pretty soft and not toasted so that's the one downside (I prefer to have soft filling and crunchy bread). I will be back.

Mate. This place. Absolutely off the chain. Everything was perfect and I'm now an absolute convert - sandwiches can be dinner people! My tiny little mind has been opened and I implore you to do the same! The main event, The Korea's Gangster sandwich, was easily the best sandwich I've ever had, and is how there with the tastiest thing full stop. The mutton was absolutely delicious, the crispy noodles added texture, and it all just... worked. I had 5 chicken wings (soy and vinegar marinated, fried in smash! Guindilla yoghurt and various onions) which were stunning. Crispy and bang full of flavour. The Mac and cheese ball was ok as a snack. Dessert was hazelnut ice cream (YUM), ginger cake crisps with some biscoff spread. Fricking delicious. 2x well made negronis and my life is now complete. Bought a book and was gutted Max himself wasn't there to sign it as he's a legend.

Yelp isn't really used in the UK as it is in the states but I hope this will bring travelers to good eats in London! London has amazing food but like any big city, you have to look for it. And rumors are just rumors, London has GREAT FOOD like Max's. Their sandwiches range from £8-10 which is pricey but they are so loaded with food and delicious, it's worth the price. Limited parking but it is close to transit. It's a small little shop with about 20-25 seats and 6 tables. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Great selections of beers too!

Best sandwiches in the world? Maybe not, but definitely some of the best in London. Always delicious, I've never been disappointed by a visit here. The mac n cheese balls and spuds are as good as tasty as the sandwiches so be prepared to leave on the verge of a food coma. Staff are friendly and a cool little set up. A must if you're anyway near finsbury park or crouch end

We've seen this place on the W7 and been meaning to stop in. Finally did so today for lunch. Good decision, team. We went early (maybe 11) and found just two other groups there. Service was fast and friendly. The sandwiches are enormous. In terms of size, it doesn't seem humanly possible to finish one on your own. They're also messy, in a delicious sort of way, like you can taste the sandwich as it spills all over your hands. The mac and cheese balls were also a nice starter. We were too full to try the pudding. Decent beers, as well. Will definitely be back.

Best sandwich shop in London . London needs more of amazing sandwich shops instead of your boring run of the mill pret and eat! Try the ham hock and what's your beef. Friendly service good portion sizes and run atmosphere!

Having woken up with a STINNNKING hangover - i decided to get out of bed and re-address the destruction that took place last night. Max's opened up circa a month ago, 2 doors away from where i live, walked passed it a few times and been intrigued but hadn't felt the need to commit...until today. The decor is modern and in line with restaurants like byron, islington. Me and the girlfriend thought we would give it a go as i couldn't face another £3 sandwich meal deal or the very large breakfast that the Italian, 2 doors down from Max's, provides. The restaurant is interesting as it markets sandwiches and booze. Its a very different proposition - but the fact it says sandwiches forms the prejudice of an inferior course. Entering, i really didn't high expectations - the menu is limited - circa 3/4 sandwiches a booze menu and a pudding. We were greeted by a very friendly person, potentially the owner, not too sure. I did mention that i was mentally & physically struggling due to internal chemical imbalances. I was recommended the "ham, egg and chips" sandwich. When you hear those three words you really don't have high expectations. The sandwich arrived wrapped in paper held together with an elastic band, i opened it up and took a good old bite - hoping that it would sort the deathly hangover. I was very very surprised. It was amazing! The bread was foccacia-ey, there was ham hock, a fried egg, mustardy mayo, tastes of vinegar, piccalilli & the "chips" were very thin almost crisp like sticks. It was a perfect balance on the palette and a very very pleasant meal. Mid way through i was contemplating another sandwich, not because i was so hungover - merely because i was shocked and was absolutely loving the food. I ordered a coffee to go with the food, the bill should have been £9, £7 for the sandwich and £2 for the coffee, the friendly person said that the coffee was on him - maybe it was because i look that terrible? I would certainly recommend Max's - really good food and a pleasant break from the norm. Its great to see somebody projecting their personality through not only high quality food but in an area you wouldn't think to travel to. Yes the menu is limited & i am sure over time it may get larger - but the food in there is awesome! I have harped on about the food and completely ignored 50% of this venue proposition - booze - in my current state the thought of booze could set of a catastrophic chain reaction. My only problem is, i work from home and have a £7 lunch allowance...best find that gym card..

I would get on this hidden gem before it is too crowded to find a table. The menu is small but every sandwich is fantastic. I can tell you this because my girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch and split 2 so we could try them both. We loved them so much that we went back for dinner. You might think it is a bit pricey for a sandwich but trust me, you get more than enough food. I have to say, being a Texas transplant in London, I have found very few places that I think cook their beef properly. However, the beef in their sandwich was a slow cooked - fall apart properly cooked bit of meat. They are extremely friendly and I am hoping they grow because I have heard rumors of craft beer and this area could use it. Well worth the trip.
